The modern world is offering a lot of opportunities to improve the daily life. In education, the Internet has become a useful and important tool to achieve the results expected. There are a lot of websites which can be used in the learning process of a language in order to make students understand how worthy English is. However, we need to be very careful at the moment of choosing one of these sites. It is necessary to analyze the level, the language and the real benefits they offer. Then, all teachers need to deeper in these sites and of course, we need to update our knowledge about this topic in order to have strong principles to evaluate them. Thus, we must not only to learn how to use these websites but how to create them and how to become them a key factor in a meaningful learning inside the classroom.
On the other hand, we need to understand that these sites are just a means and the teacher´s guidance is very important. Thus, teachers can´t forget that technical problems happen at any time, and of course, the room organization and the work by pairs are too basic factors in the lesson development.

ReplyDeleteI certainly agree with you. The Internet provides us with a huge amount of information. Teachers must be selective when deciding what sources to get information and materials from or take their students to.
Then, it is important to check some of the websites on Englsih learning and begin to choose which ones are really useful and worthy in our environment.
ReplyDeleteActually, Internet has not the true always, for real you can find many information in the web, but, you as teacher must be carreful because whoever can write every thing that they want, for instance: Crazy people, kids, people who do not know anything about the topic, so you must select evrything and see how reliable and confident is the information that you want to use, internet is good, but it does work everytime as entire way of getting useful information.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. We need adapt whatever we want to teach our students to their level and their context. I know the importance technology has in education, but what happen to those places where technology is absent or out date? I think we must be creative and work with what we have in our hands but doing our best.

I strongly agree with you that the web sites are just a source, a support. It is our resposibility to provide students a guide to use those resources in meaningful and effective way. we have to take advantages on the fact that students are updated in this field.

I had the opportunity to use internet in one of my afternoon classes in Canada in order to improve my communicative skills. ReplyDeleteI know there are some places where the technology is not available, however the teachers must be able to use what they have in their hands. For instance, they can print the screen views in order for students to begin to familiarize with technological tools, I know it is not the best but it can be useful..
ReplyDeleteactually, working in a city as Ibague or others where many things are available is not the same that working in a rural part where the resources are not available, they are differents enviroments, for sure we want the best for our students. but sometimes it demands not just me as a teacher. think of that
ReplyDeleteI really agree with all of you when you say it is an important tool to use. I have used it with my students and they love it. The thing here, is that sometimes teachers are either afraid of using it because students know more than them, or too lazy or busy to take some extra time to check it out . At the end it becomes just a way of using the time, by doing something..

ReplyDeleteNowadays schools have technology resources so teachers don’t have excuses to plan boring classes, because they have a variety of tools to develop interesting activities. The problem is teachers' attitude to use new technologies, here we can´t say "we cannot teach an old dog to do tricks" they should be open minded to change the way to teach.

In spite of I like to be on the web I never have though to implement this useful tool into the classroom. it could be seen out of fashion but its true. Maybe because where I work I dont have the chance to put in practice the resorces internet gives me.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I agree with all your assumptions about the importance of using the internet, likewise how useful it is for us in terms of searching activities at moreover,to increase motivation in our students and one of the things I most like as You have mentioned before to make understand our students how worthy English is. in adittion as hugo has mentioned the Use of CALL is the present and for that reason the new commintment for teachers to face new everyday`s challenges,in consequence emerge the need to be updated.
In this moment, the use of technology in our English classes has been the most relevant change in the communicative activities. Students consider it as an important tool of sharing ideas, feelings and opinions. they know that technology give them a new vision of the learning process but, some teachers have to be conscious about the importance of improving their knowledge about it. this is a new revolution edge about learning process.

I need to confess that I am the kind of teacher that still doesn’t use this aid in my classroom due to lack of equipment in our language centers and experience from my side.
